Biplabi Amarendra Nath Chattopadhya is a great son of Uttarpara, who fought
the British imperialism throughout his life. The British police tried hard
to capture him - but Amarendranath eluded them to set up a large network of
revolutionaries. He was the a key member of Biplabi organization in
Hooghly district and had regular communication with similar organizations
throughout Bengal.
When Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki were entrusted with the job of
killing infamous British Magistrate Kingsford in Mujaffarpur -
Amarendra did most of the background work and sold family ornaments
to finance the plan.
