5th September is a Red Letter Day for residents of Uttarpara
and many others far and near. The club, Ideal Society of
Youth came into being on this day of 1961. Now the club
with an enviable and glorious presence in Uttarpara for
over 42 years stands as a heritage club. We salute those
youths who established it, some of whom have already left
for their heavenly abode. Their memory still remains fresh
among their excellent deeds. Both young and old are free to
join the club, which boasts of a 200 strong membership.
The main aim and motto of the club is social services
through various cultural and social programmes round
the year. Some of the activities are Shyma Pooja,
Social get together, organizing musical nights, women's
road race, walking competition for senior citizens over
65 years of age, centenary celebration of great and
eminent people of India etc.
We are extremely proud to mention the presence and
performance of leading lights in Indian cultural
panorama - Pandit Ravi Sankar, Nikhil Banerjee, Anup
Jalota, Ostad Gulam Ali, Manna Dey, Hemanta Mukherjee,
Dhananjay Bhattacharya, Pannalal Bhattacharya and
many others at musical nights organized by the club.
It is also worth mentioning that the club stands first in
India to organize night gala sports, arranging private
ambulance service, 2 km walking race for women, walking
competition for senior citizens etc. The All Bengal
Caricature Competition, organized by the club, boasts
of participation by no less personalities than Bhanu,
Jawhar, Nripati etc. The children story telling competition
attracts enthusiastic participation from all over West Bengal

Mayor of Calcutta Subrata Mukherjee flagging of a sports meet organized by the Club
Our future plan includes setting up of Old Age Home, Mobile Medicine
Bank, Multipurpose Gym and a school with boarding facility.
There is no dearth of energy, enthusiasm or organizing capability
among club members, only paucity of fund slows down pace
of plan implementation and realization of our dream.
One of our greatest achievements is to develop a bond among
club members who feel the club is their best friend and truest
companion, a bliss in solitude. They have an ardent feeling
that the club will sob with them in sorrow and rejoice with
them in happiness, console then in bereavement and cheer
them up in any kind of distress.
So, long live the Ideal Society of Youth....

End of a long journey - Women's 2 Km race organized by the Club is extremely popular
among young women athletes
