Late Kashinath Chattopadhyay

Evergreen and ever enthusiastic even at wrong side of seventies – Sri Kashinath Chattopadhyay has been the main locomotive of this venture. Tirelessly working for hours – Sri Chattopadhyay has collected information from various sources bit by bit, compiled them into articles and sent to us in Delhi for inclusion in the pages of uttarpara.com Besides, he has been the fountainhead of motivation and inspiration – without which this effort would never have been possible. We truely owe it to you Kashida !

Late Nemai Charan Chattopadhyay

At 90 plus – Sri Nemai Charan Chattopadhyay has seen a lot of Uttarpara, lot more than most other Uttarparans. He has helped us immensely with his anecdotes; lively recounting of happenings in pre and post 1947 Uttarpara; tales of Zamindars, Gupt Society, revolutionaries etc. of British days and above all the interesting and absorbing chronicle of Uttarpara, graduating from a small village to its semi-urban status today. Sri Chattopadhyay’s story telling ability and superb memory have greatly contributed to our understanding of Uttarpara and its socio-cultural complex.
